Review : O'neill Psychofreak 3.5 mm split toe wetsuit boot

Oneill Psychofreak 3.5 mm split toe wetsuit boot

These Oneill Psychofreak split toe surf boots were my partners in Winter for 3 years in a row until recently, when piss off wash couldn't help anymore.

Those are made with the firewall neprene O'neill used in 2013 / 2014 in their wetsuit lineup, in the chest area. It's a neoprene with large aire bubles (0.5mm large). In 2016 they updated their model with their new technobutter 2 neoprene, same concept, newer and probably better technology.

The fit is great for my feet. Your regular comfort size in a pair of nike should be your right snugg size in those. I tried the latest model and the fit is the same.

The feel of the board is great, nothing to report on that and they stay waterless inside, in the water.

The first 2 years they were consistently warm in 10 to 15 degrees celsius water temp.

The third year, I was cold after 1 hour in 14°C. Was it me? Was it the booties? I experienced it 3 times though.

I guess you could say they can handle 2 winters flawlessly.

Price has gone up this year, something like 20%. That's the one reason why I did not buy the updated 2016 model.

Well that and the fact, that I was recommended The Atan Mistral booties instead, that felt amazingly barefoot like. A review will follow.
